Cabins on Clark Lake

*Update as of 1/20/21: Cabins on Clark Lake is now called Door County Cabin Collective (@dccabincollective).

On the quieter, eastern side of the Door County peninsula sits a stunning cabin rental called The Bay. My parents, my husband, and I spent a weekend here in early November, relaxing and exploring some nearby parks. When we arrived Friday night, the place was absolutely glowing. Light flooded through the windows, patio lights were strung between the trees, and candles flickered inside.

The Cabins on Clark Lake are comprised of three rentals: The Bay (which is the one we stayed in), The Point (which is right down the road) and their newest one called Porte Haven. The Bay is a unique H-frame cabin with a large deck, a fire pit with Adirondack chairs, and a park-like lawn surrounded by cedar trees. It faces west and overlooks Clark Lake, offering picturesque water and sunset views. It can sleep up to 12 people with three bedrooms and two full baths. Perfect for families, couples, and girls’ trips, The Bay is one of those places you’ll want to return to year after year.

On Saturday morning, my mom and I woke up early and enjoyed some coffee in the sunroom. There’s a big dining table, two leather chairs, and a super comfy couch. The wood-paneled walls and ceiling made it feel so cozy and cabin-like.

One of the nice things about this rental is that you hardly need to bring anything. The kitchen is fully stocked, the bathrooms have amenities, there are board games, books, sheets, towels, kayaks… I was so impressed by the preparedness of our hosts, Caitlyn and Jeremy. A few days prior to our stay, they even emailed me an incredibly thorough welcome guide with everything we needed to know. I absolutely loved that! They were very attentive and thoughtful hosts.

Despite it being windy while we were there, we really lucked out with the weather. It was sunny and in the 60s, perfect for exploring some local parks! We decided to check out Cave Point County Park (no cost) and Whitefish Dunes State Park (state park sticker required) which are located right next to each other, just a quick five-minute drive down the road. I would definitely recommend both of these spots for sightseeing!

Cave Point has cool rock formations and limestone cliffs you can walk out on. Whitefish Dunes has a sprawling beach, sand dunes, and hiking trails.

After spending the afternoon outdoors, we made our way back to the cabin to relax for the remainder of the evening. There are a ton of great spots to kick back – the beautiful lounge area at the front of the house, the bar stools in the kitchen, the sunroom that I mentioned before, the loft with a second-story view of the lake, the deck with a farm table, the dock… so many amazing options!

We were treated to a beautiful sunset over Clark Lake and ended the evening with dinner and a game of Scrabble!

Sunday morning came way too fast and before we knew it, it was time to head home!

I really enjoyed our stay here. The place was spotless, every room was thoughtfully decorated, and the location was ideal. It’s in a more low-key area of the peninsula yet close to the hustle and bustle of the other towns like Egg Harbor and Fish Creek. Clark Lake is also the second largest lake in Door County, great for boating, fishing, and just being on the water (they offer a pontoon rental at their cabins too!) So if you’re looking for a top-rated cabin rental in Door County, I would definitely recommend checking out The Bay!

Thank you to our hosts, Caitlyn and Jeremy, for having us!
