Upson Falls

June 24, 2020

Upson Falls was the second stop on our day-long waterfall tour. This waterfall is located right by the little town of Upson and can be visited by entering Upson Falls Campground (there’s no fee to enter and visit the falls – there’s only a cost if you’re camping). The campground itself is small and quaint with only six campsites. Pets are allowed as long as they aren’t left unattended. There are also vault toilets available. The falls are right next to the campground so if you like the sound of a rushing river, this is the spot for you!

Getting there + parking

As you head west on Hwy 77, turn right into Upson on Hoyt Rd (Hwy 122). Turn left on Upson Park Rd. Cross the bridge over the Potato River and Upson Falls Campground will be on your left. Park next to the white wooden pavilion and walk down the dirt path to the falls.

The narrow trail starts by the white pavilion and follows along the river’s edge. You can then take it up to a natural lookout spot to get a closer view of the waterfall. It’s a very short trail with a little bit of an incline.

Overall, I really loved Upson Falls and would definitely visit again! There’s also an awesome spot called Corrigan’s Lookout just 2.5 miles north. You can read that blog post here!
